We're Committed To Environmentally-Friendly Printing
Peter the Printer is determined to be a leader in Environmentally-Friendly Printing. Its not easy being green, but we've implemented a plan to minimize our impact on the planet by reducing waste, recycling, using the cleanest technologies available, and replenishing our natural resources. We're outlining our Green Printing program in a pamphlet available to other commercial printers, to show How We Can Go Green.

Our Green Printing Policies
    Recycling
Currently, we do a great job recycling and using reusable pallets, liquid wastes, rags, and inks. We are moving towards 99% recyclables, all soy & vegetable oil based inks, and using less volatile solvents in our printing. Most of our source paper stocks contain a high percentage of post consumer recycled content from previously used paper products, such as newspaper and other recycled paper products. By switching to higher percent recycled paper, we save around 90 tons of wood or 626 trees, 143 million BTU’s of heat energy, 113,514 lbs. of Carbon Dioxide, and 51,720 lbs of garbage annually.

    Green Energy
The Peter the Printer plant is powered by 100% Green Energy from renewable sources. 60% of our energy comes NewWind Energy-- wind power is a completely clean form of energy. The rest of our power is clean renewable Nuclear energy. Our Energy Policy displaces carbon sources that would otherwise produce 133.134 lbs. of Carbon Dioxide/year: the equivalent of 9,057 trees or driving 115,508 miles.
High Conservation Forest

    Forest Renewal & Conservation
We offset 100% of our paper use with donations to The Nature Conservancy and The Printers National Environmental Assistance Center (PNEAC). We do not use Old Growth Forests, and compensate every tree we use. The Nature Conservancy protects high-value Canadian forests; the PNEAC is a partnership between the printing industry, government and university technical assistance providers, to assist environmental regulation agencies, and provide environmental information to printers, publishers, and packagers.

About our Green-Friendly Printing Logo
We've designed our Green-Friendly Printing Logo to designate a commitment to the environment. The Logo is available for free download and general use, for you to signal to your clients that you are committed to green industrial policy.
